b3LAB – b3Player Pro
The broadcast-accurate player & signal hub for macOS.
Frame-accurate playback with 10-bit DeckLink output (v210), NDI® and Syphon in and out, a cue playlist, OSC control with Mitti sync, scopes, overlays, FFGL effects and export. Metal-native, with bundled FFmpeg — no terminal and no setup.
// EVERYTHING IT DOES
Tap a tile. See it move.
Each capability opens a focused view with the full technical detail.
Hardware decoding via VideoToolbox, with the bundled LGPL FFmpeg for the rest.
One shared Program feeds DeckLink, NDI® and Syphon at once: same image, timecode and v210 path.
Own playback clock, JKL shuttle, markers and a cue playlist with per-cue fades, loops and goto.
Control transport, cues and outputs over OSC, follow or drive Mitti, and route up to 16 audio channels.
Waveform, parade, vectorscope and histogram in Metal, plus overlays, focus peaking and LUTs.
Export through the bundled FFmpeg with timecode track, audio and selectable burn-in.
// SOURCE FORMATS
Plays what you throw at it.
- H.264 / AVC, HEVC / H.265, ProRes — hardware decoding via VideoToolbox; HEVC with HDR (PQ/HLG); ProRes incl. 4444 with alpha.
- DNxHD / DNxHR, MPEG-2 / XDCAM, VP9, FFV1, MJPEG — decoded with the bundled LGPL FFmpeg; DNxHR up to 12-bit, FFV1 for lossless archival.
- HAP / HAP Alpha / HAP Q — custom decoder (BCn → Metal) for VJ and live workflows.
- Image sequences — DPX, TIFF, PNG, EXR, JPEG with custom sequence FPS. Stills with adjustable hold, also as a playlist cue.
- Audio-only — WAV, AIFF, MP3, M4A, FLAC and more play as a black frame with sound.
// OUTPUTS
One Program, every output.
A single shared Program feeds DeckLink, NDI® and Syphon at once — same image, timecode and v210 path.
- DeckLink (SDI) — 10-bit end to end. True 10-bit v210 computed on the GPU. Scheduled playback with its own device clock, audio over SDI (up to 16 channels), RP188 timecode, HDR over SDI (PQ/HLG, Rec.2020) or tone-mapped SDR.
- NDI® Output — Program over the network (8-bit).
- Syphon Output — Program as a texture for other macOS apps, with a custom name.
- sRGB option — convert the Rec.709 Program to sRGB for NDI and Syphon receivers.
// INPUTS
Files and live sources.
Live inputs go through the same Program stage, so overlays, scopes, effects and every output apply to them too.
- NDI® — receive from the network.
- Syphon — a texture from another macOS app.
- DeckLink — SDI input (8-bit).
- Cameras — any connected camera.
- Screen capture — a display, window or app (ScreenCaptureKit), with sound for SDI/NDI, optional mouse pointer and transparent background.
// PLAYBACK & CUES
Frame-accurate, cue-driven.
- Transport — own playback clock, JKL shuttle, varispeed, reverse playback even for long-GOP, In/Out marks, A-B loop, markers and stop at next marker.
- Playlist — files, inputs, charts and spacers, by drag & drop. Per-cue switches for fade, loop, goto, pause and transitions.
- Cue inspector — in/out, playback speed 6–6400 %, play counts, fades, level −60 … +12 dB and OSC at start/end.
- Folder mode — play a whole folder, recursive or random, without building a playlist.
- Mitti — import a .mitti2 project, Follow Mitti (sync) or Drive Mitti (control).
// OSC & AUDIO
Remote control and sound.
- OSC in and out — control via
/b3player/…(transport, cues, overlays, outputs, every menu action), feedback to/b3player/status/…, per-cue messages with placeholders. - Audio routing — sound over the Mac (delayed to match SDI) and/or over SDI/NDI, up to 16 channels, solo, meters and waveform.
- Varispeed audio — forward 25–800 % with pitch correction (WSOLA); reverse is silent, like tape.
- Tone generator — 100 / 400 / 1k / 10k Hz, EBU and SMPTE reference levels.
// MONITORING
Scopes, overlays and viewing aids.
- Scopes — waveform, parade, vectorscope and histogram in Metal, each scrubbable, also in a floating window.
- Overlays — timecode, time left, marks, safe areas, center cross, blanking, chart, countdown, meters, grid and more.
- Viewing aids — false color, focus peaking, R/G/B channel isolation and 1D/3D LUTs (.cube) as monitoring aids.
- TIME / countdown — Realtime, Duration, To and multi-line Text modes, with its own Syphon server for stage and control room.
// IMAGE
Color, alpha and effects.
- Color and HDR — Rec.709 / BT.1886 playback, HDR (PQ/HLG) in the window via EDR, 10-bit end to end on SDI.
- Reframe and alpha — zoom, pan and flip, alpha matte with checkerboard background, clean premultiplied alpha outputs.
- FFGL effects — effect chain from Resolume "Extra Effects" and your own folders, applied to window and outputs alike.
- Test chart — built-in chart with its own clock and running timecode.
// EXPORT & TOOLS
Export with burn-in.
- Export via bundled FFmpeg: ProRes (all profiles, 4444 with alpha), H.264, HEVC and HAP, with timecode track and audio.
- Selectable burn-in — timecode, safe areas, scopes, meters, TIME, FX, LUT and viewing aids.
- Source — the file in the player, the playlist as one film, or each cue as its own film.
- Screenshots as PNG or JPEG, a fully re-bindable shortcut editor, and appearance settings.
// LICENSE
€29, one license per person.
- Demo (unlicensed) — full viewer at full frame rate, all inputs usable, no time cap. Outputs (DeckLink, NDI, Syphon) run at 2 fps with a banner.
- Pro (licensed) — €29 — everything without limits, outputs at full frame rate.
Activate with your license key in the license panel. Status shows under App ▸ License.
